There are a few simple tips and
steps that can help save you money when
it comes to running your air conditioner this cooling season.
1.) Keep the indoor evaporator coil and outdoor condenser
coil CLEAN: The indoor coil in your air
conditioner acts as a magnet for dust because of moisture during the cooling
season. Dirt build-up on the indoor and
outdoor coil is a common cause of poor efficiency and premature system failure.
2.) Freon Level: The circulating fluid in your air
conditioner is a special refrigerant gas that’s put in when the system is
installed. If the system is not cooling
effectively, it may be low on freon and may cause the lines/coil to “freeze”
preventing the system from operating correctly. If the system is undercharged,
there may be a leak that needs to be located and repaired. It is imperative to have the refrigerant
charge correct to operate efficiently.
3.) Setting
your Thermostat: Did you know that each
degree setting below 78°F increases your energy consumption by approximately
8%. Simply setting the thermostat at 78°F
will save you $$ each month.
