Why Get an Annual Heating Tune-Up

We have officially left summer behind and that means cold weather is not far away.  It’s easy to forget to prepare your heating equipment for those inevitable dropping temperatures coming our way this winter. There are several reasons to get your heat pump or furnace ready, but let’s focus on the three most important reasons why you should schedule an annual heating tune-up.

1)  Safe Operation - Gas furnaces use a process that involves a flame and a combustible material (such as natural or propane gas) to create heat for your home. The fact that it involves a flame, however small, should tell you the importance of regular maintenance.    Heating systems without regular maintenance can be a safety concern to you and your family. Incomplete combustion creates dangerous levels of carbon monoxide while small cracks in the heat exchanger can leak gas into your home.   A heating tune-up will ensure your furnace or heat pump operates safely all winter long.

2)  Improved Efficiency - In addition to ensuring safe operation, a heating tune-up will improve the efficiency of your heating equipment.  During the 30 Point Precision Tune-Up, the technician will clean internal parts such as the burner and pilot assembly, and confirm there is proper airflow.  These and other components will be inspected and tuned-up to improve the energy efficiency of your furnace or heat pump.

3)  Reduced Repairs
- Heating equipment breakdowns are frustrating and inconvenient; and they usually happen on the coldest day of winter.  A heating tune-up could help you avoid this situation by having your furnace or heat pump inspected and tuned-up before it’s put to the test.
Heating equipment repairs can be reduced by keeping parts and components in peak condition. Heating Tune-Ups can also catch small problems before they turn into larger, more expensive repairs later.
